Let me introduce myself, my name is Marjorie Pezzoli.
I have been painting silk off and on for over 20 years.
After taking a 5 year break I found Fusionglass Co. and started taking stainglass with Paul Fernandes.
Being around all that color lead me back to silk painting!
Debb Solan, the other co-founder of FGc, has included me in many wonderful projects and a source of continued inspiration.
I am an intuitive silk painter.
I take in my surroundings and I enjoy what I see.
Color, texture, and patterns that are found in Nature & technologies are my delight.
Words and thoughts are another source of inspiration.
I love the flow, movement and brilliant color of silks dyes. How they interact lead me to new designs.
There is a freedom I have not found with other painting mediums, there is no resistance to the brush on the fabric so it is like painting on air!
I love to capture colors in silk, it is one way to express myself.

The pure joy of exploring color keeps me motivated to work on the next piece.
The process of painting is about letting go, to know there are no mistakes.
It can be a very freeing thing when you let the silk and dye to their own thing.
Learning to go with the flow, and know you don't have to be in complete control to make a beautiful creation is a powerful thing.
There are many techniques to silk painting, each one takes you on a new exploration.
I first started silk painting in 1991. Back then I mainly worked in a small format.
Since I had small children I wanted some thing I could complete in short time.
Earrings, pins and bolo ties where canvases for miniature paintings.
I was featured in the "Best of Hand Painted Silk" by Jan Janus & Diane Tuckman in 1995 because I took the simple button jewelry to a higher level.
They are working on a new book book that will feature a dress make from 10 yards of my silk, made by Jennafer Grace, a local San Diego fashion designer.
The dress was Arts Collide's team final runway dress for "Art Meets Fashion" produced by the San Diego Visual Arts Network in 2011.
2012- 2014 Sea Changes.org is a collaborative project with 7 scientists and 7 artists working as a team, using art and science to promote Ocean Awareness & Stewardship.
It was started with the efforts of SDVAN and team leader Kira Carillo Corser. We hope to continue on with Sea Changes ACT II in the coming years.
